Last Goodbye

Claire and Abigail were the best of friends for a long time and it’s good to know that they will be graduating together in the same university. It’s the start of the second semester. They’ve been talking about their future plans when Ian passed by. “Oh my gosh! It’s Ian!”,Abigail squealed as she blushed. “Yeah”, said Claire. “Do you think we’ll still meet after graduation?” asked Abigail. Claire replied, “I think so...” and they continued their conversation ‘til the bell rang.
Abigail has a crush on Ian ever since first year college. Unknowingly, Claire feels the same way. Claire can’t even tell Abigail 'cause she doesn’t want Abigail to get hurt.
Few weeks have passed and there was a sort of a rumor that spread all over the campus. Abigail went to
Claire to confront her about it. “Hey! Tell me Claire, is this true? You and Ian are together? I can’t believe that you did this to me! You betrayed me!”. “I’m sorry Abigail. I tried to tell you but you were busy”, said Claire, “I’m really sorry”. Claire tried to explain but they didn’t fix their friendship.
Its graduation and still, they haven’t talked to each other. It’s still that situation two years after they graduated.
Abigail’s phone rang. She answered it. “Is this Abigail?” said the voice. “Yes. May I know who you are and how may I help you?” Abigail asked. “Hey. It’s me Claire. Uhm. I just want to apologize ‘bout what happened two years ago. And I want to tell you I’ve forgiven you.”, said Claire. “Anything else? I don’t have time for this stupid conversation.” said Abigail. Claire said, “I’m really sorry. And this is my last goodbye. Take care. Goodbye.” and she hung up.
Then Abigail noticed that there’s a text message from Ian that was sent two days ago. It said:
“It’s me, Ian. I want to inform you that Abigail has just passed away. She wants to tell you she’s sorry and take care.”
Abigail stood frozen as tears slowly run down from her eyes. She said, “I’m sorry Claire. I’m sorry…” as she cried in regret. Then she felt a cold breeze that hugged her which reminded her of her bestfriend, Claire.
